Elmer's Obituary

Elmer S. Geik, 87, of St. Joseph, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2004, at his home in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 30, 2004, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., with Rev. Dan Miller officiating. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may call on the family from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 29, 2004, also at the funeral home. Elmer was born on July 4, 1917, to Sam and Alvina (Hahn) Geik in Benton Harbor. He served as a medic in the 126th Infantry Division where he received a battle field commission to 1st Lt. during WWII. Elmer married Isabel Kress. He worked for Star Pattern in Benton Harbor and retired in 1970. Elmer enjoyed gardening, stamp collecting, and woodworking in his basement shop. Elmer is survived by his son Elmer Geik of St. Joseph; brother Alfred Geik of St. Joseph; and sister Eleanor Jewell of Stevensville. Elmer was preceded in death by his wife Isabel; his parents; and two sisters Evelyn Bayles and Marion Steinke.
