Betta's Obituary

Betta J. Kolberg, 75, of Stevensville, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at Lakeland Specialty Hospital in Berrien Center.A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Randy Doyle officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to her family or the American Diabetes Association. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mrs. Kolberg was born March 15, 1930 in South Bend, Indiana to Jay & Bernice (Merritt) Warden. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1947. Betta was employed as a teller for St. Joseph Savings & Loan Association in St. Joseph, retiring in 1997. She enjoyed tending to her flower garden and her bunny collection. Betta especially loved anything to do with her twelve grand & great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her grandpuppy Brandi. Mrs. Kolberg is survived by four daughters-Cindy (Reiny) Juengling of East Wenatchee, WA, Dona Lucker of Stevensville, Ellen (Douglas) Mikkelsen of St. Joseph, Tammy (Brian) Ashley of St. Joseph; nine grandchildren-Lorie, Jenny, Jay, Susie, Blair, Kelli, Chad, Adam, Alec; three great-grandchildren-Hilary, Taylor, Tori; a sister-in-law-Arlene (Myron) Lockwitz of Stevensville; nephews David Lockwitz of Stevensville, Mark (Kim) Lockwitz of Lansing; cousins George & Dean Warden, and Lisa Pearson, all of Burnett, WI. Betta was preceded in death by her parents Jay & Bernice Warden and a granddaughter Erin Marie Mikkelsen.
