Dorothy V. Piacenti

COLOMA – Dorothy V. Piacenti, 77, beloved wife of William C. Piacenti and mother of Valerie A. and William E., departed this earth on Friday, December 3, 2004 at Hospice at Home at The Meadows in Buchanan, MI. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 13 at Keeler United Methodist Church in Keeler, MI, located at the corner of Territorial and County Road 687 (269.621.1838). The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be made to Keeler United Methodist Church or South Haven Hospice. Arrangements are entrusted to Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home.Dorothy Virginia was born on May 2, 1927 in Harvey, IL to Selma and Gus Fredman. They were a close and loving family. A graduate of Thornton Township High School in 1945, she worked for the Illinois Central Railroad for 3 years. Married to the love of her life, William C. Piacenti on May 8, 1948, they resided in Chicago Heights, IL where they raised their family. Bill and Dorothy had been residents of Fairplain for 20 years and Coloma had been home for the past 10.Dorothy was an active member in many congregations over the past decades, most recently with Keeler United Methodist. Her hobbies included reading, travel, a love of architecture, letter writing, and enjoying nature. A remarkable, generous, kind, and loving human being, Dorothy is survived by her husband of 57 years, William C.; daughter Valerie Piacenti; son William E. Piacenti; son-in-law James G. Anderson and her grandchildren April Lynn Piacenti and Zachary James William Anderson. Dorothy was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all fortunate enough to have known her.
