Estella Hester

Estella Hester, 90, of St. Joseph, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2005, at Lakeland Continuing Care in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 15, 2005, at Second Baptist Church, 600 Donald Adkins Dr., Benton Harbor with Rev. K. Morris Gavin officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may call on the family one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church. Estella was born on April 4, 1914, in Aberdeen, Mississippi to Alfred and Maggie McClendon. She married Earnest Hester, Sr. in Heth, Arkansas on July 12, 1931. Estella is survived by her children – Ida B. Meeks and Lula M. Rolfe both of Benton Harbor, Gloria A. (Roy) Shurn of St. Joseph, Doris (Frank) Cooper of Benton Harbor, Ernest (Gladys) Hester, Jr. of Michigan City, Ind., Alfred G. Hester and Russell Hester both of Benton Harbor; twenty-four grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Earnest in July 2003; two brothers; and three sisters.
