Steven Douglas Crawley

Steven Douglas Crawley, age 45, passed away on February 20, 2013 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan after a prolonged illness. He was born on September 19, 1967 at Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac, Michigan to James L. Crawley, Jr. and Mary L. Crawley.Steven grew up in Dowagiac, Michigan, where he graduated from Dowagiac Union High School and Southwestern Michigan College. Steven moved to Kalamazoo where he attended Western Michigan University and worked as a Bartender at Waldo’s Tavern on the Campus of WMU for 17 years until his illness. He loved to draw with a passion for animation and comic books. Steven loved to cook, spend time with his family and friends in both Kalamazoo and Dowagiac, and he was also a big fan of the U of M Wolverines and the Los Angeles Lakers.Steven is survived by his Mom, Mary L. and Dad, James L. Crawley, Jr.; brother, James L. Crawley III; his grandparents, Mary Edwina Crawley, Beatrice Jackson and James L. Crawley, Sr. all of Dowagiac. He is also survived by three aunts, Patricia A. (Robert) Gonder of Cornelius, North Carolina, Theresa L. (Robert) Davis of Cornelius, North Carolina and Carol A. (Lewis, deceased) of Dowagiac; two great aunts, Barbara Hibler Shivers of Dowagiac, Michigan, Shirley Teachey of Detroit, Michigan; cousins, David (Mya) Gonder of Kannapolis, N.C., Dionne (Robin, Jr.) Stanley of Mebane, N.C., Michael Davis and Taryn Davis (Christopher) Boykin of Cornelius, North Carolina, Andrew Crawley of Dowagiac and Timothy Crawley of Atlanta, GA as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at Yazel & Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, MI on Saturday, March 2, 2013. The services will be at 12 noon.In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the Kidney Foundation in memory of Steven D. Crawley.
