Lloyd's Obituary
Lloyd Dean Stuckey, 86, of St. Joseph, went to meet his Lord & Savior Monday, November 08, 2004 at Lakeland Specialty Hospital in Berrien Center. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the First Church of God, 2627 Niles Ave., St. Joseph with Rev. Rick Blumenberg officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma*** with military rites conducted by Coloma American Legion Post 362, VFW Post 1137 of Benton Harbor, and VFW Post 6803 of Watervliet. *** Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Lloyd was born November 2, 1918 in Kansas City Missouri to Lloyd & Eva (Bynum) Stuckey. He graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City; and from Anderson College in Anderson, Indiana with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He also earned a Master of Arts degree in English Literature at Indiana Central College in Indianapolis and a Bachelor of Music degree at Sherwood Music School in Chicago with a major in Piano. Lloyd?s secular job experience was broad, ranging from military duties as a Captain in the US Air Force during WWII to duties as an Advertising Analyst at Whirlpool Corporation following the War years. He then served as a Writer/Editor working for the Department of the Army as a civilian. He spent two years in Germany as an Education Advisor. Following his return to the US, he wrote training literature at the US Army Adjutant General?s School, Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. At the US Army Engineer School, Fort Belvoir, VA, he served as Deputy Director, Department of Armywide Training Support. He retired from Federal Civil Service in July of 1979 and returned to St. Joseph to live. Mr. Stuckey was a member of the First Church of God and participated in several church ministries that included Sanctuary Choir, the Music and Worship Board, Prime Timers Leadership Committee, Berrien County Jail Ministry, and Church landscaping in Springtime, Summer and Autumn. His wife Georgia, whom he married July 5, 1942 in St. Joseph, preceded him in death on September 29, 2003. He is survived by three sons-James (Carol) Stuckey of Buchanan; John Stuckey of Pendleton, IN; Paul Stuckey of St. Joseph.
