John A. Brandes

John Anthony Brandes, of Benton Harbor, died Thursday, October 21, 2004 at his home Mr. Brandes was born June 11, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois to John A., Sr. & Katherine (Verbeck) Brandes. John graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1959. He was employed in food service for Canteen Co., at Bosch Automotive Group, St. Joseph, Michigan. John was a history buff and liked to go to the historical events in the area. When playing Trivial Pursuit everyone wanted him on their team. He also loved reading books and you could always find him in one of the local bookstores. Sometimes seeming like a quiet person, he would always surprise you with his humorous conversation. John was loved by his family, friends, co-workers and he will be deeply missed. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Kerley-Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, Michigan. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:30 P.M., on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at the funeral home with Fr. William Jacobs of St. John-St. Bernard Parish officiating. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma, Michigan. Memorials may be made to family through the funeral home. John is survived by a sister, Judith Ludwig of St. Joseph; nephew – Kevin Ludwig; niece – Bonnie (Ron) Russell. Three great nephews Andrew, Dustin, Corey, and one great niece Cassandra
