Michael L. McGuigan

Michael L. McGuigan, 62, of Stevensville, passed away Monday, November 8, 2004 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Three Oaks with graveside military rites conducted by Three Oaks American Legion Post #204. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. McGuigan was born October 1, 1942 in Michigan City, Indiana to Claire & Anita (Seid) McGuigan. He attended and played football for Valparaiso University from 1960-1964. Michael served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Michael was employed by the US Post Office, beginning in 1970 for several years in Benton Harbor, then transferring to St. Joseph Post Office where he was currently employed. On August 8, 1974, he married the former Linda Schau Marsh in St. Joseph. Michael was a former member of the St. Joseph Kiwanas Club and the Stevensville American Legion Post #568. He was an avid sports fan and deeply loved his family. Michael is survived by his wife Linda; his mother Anita McGuigan of Berrien Center; four sons-Ted (Melanie) Marsh of Troy, MI, Tod Marsh of Benton Harbor, Tracy Marsh of Hartford, Toby (Julie) Marsh of St. Joseph; two daughters-Taya-Rae (Lane) Johnston of Troy, MI, Teri (Frank Stijnman) McGuigan of Stevensville; fourteen grandchildren; and a brother-James McGuigan of Three Oaks. He was preceded in death by his father Claire and a daughter Trisha McGuigan, both in 1978.
