Lena Virginia Azzarolo

Lena Virginia (Monte) Azzarolo, 92, of Benton Harbor passed away Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at Lakeland Continuing Care Center in St. Joseph. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Feb. 15 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 555 E. Delaware St., Benton Harbor, with Father Bill Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14 with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Kerley-Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to St. John’s – St. Bernard’s Catholic Church or Hospice of Stevensville. Lena was born July 8, 1912, to Salvatore and Antoinette (Lomonaco) Monte in Benton Harbor. She married her loving husband, Sam, 62 years ago on Oct. 31, 1942. Lena was a loving wife, a doting aunt and a fabulous cook. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam and her brothers — Joe, Tony, John, Frank, Sam and Peter.
