Konstantyn Sotnyk

Konstantyn Sotnyk, 93, of Coloma, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2004 at his home. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call from 3-6 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Haven or St. Michael?s Ukranian Orthodox Church in Hammond, Indiana. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mr. Sotnyk was born May 9, 1911 in Czerepascnyk, Ukraine to Theodor & Maria (Wasylejko) Sotnyk. On November 4, 1936, he married the former Luba Mikolajczuk in the Ukraine. They left the Ukraine several years later and since 1953 operated a fruit farm in Bainbridge Township in Coloma. Konstantyn, in addition to farming, enjoyed beekeeping, fishing, woodworking & gardening. Mr. Sotnyk is survived by his wife Luba; his son-Robert (Jeanne) Sotnyk of St. Joseph; two daughters-Lydia Swerbinsky of Benton Harbor; Iris (Kenneth) Garrison of St. Joseph; seven grandchildren-Teri Landowski, Derek Sotnyk, Gavin Sotnyk, Corinne Garrison, Michael Garrison, Jeff Petlick, Jacob Petlick; & four great-grandchildren-Sarah Heie, Chad, Kate & Mike Landowski. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter Mary Sotnyk in 1943; a grandson Michael Swerbinsky in 1991; a son-ion-law-Tony Swerbinsky in 1992; two sisters, one brother, and a nephew Jerry Sotnyk in 2004.
