Gary Richard Dasse

Gary R. Dasse, 58, of St. Joseph, passed from this life on February 2, 2005. He was recently preceded in death by his wife Lin, on January 8, 2005. Mr. Dasse was born April 18, 1946, and was the son of the late Robert and Nona Dasse. Gary graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1964 and attended college in Evansville Indiana. In the 1970?s Mr. Dasse worked as a journalist for the South Bend Tribune and then for the Berrien County Sheriffs Department. In the 1980?s Gary found his true calling in the field of restaurant and bar management, working for various establishments in the area. In 1994, he and his wife Lin, opened the Old Goat Inn, in Coloma, which they owned and operated. Gary was known for his charm and wit, and possessed a unique talent in the art of conversation. He always had a new joke, and many tall tales to tell. Survivors include a son Eric Dasse; a brother Michel Dasse; step-children- Theresa Lynn (David) Wycott, Carla (Jack) Simmons, and Carolyn (Tim) Odom; and step-grandchildren- Alissa, Carley, and Brent Simmons and Mercedes and Dustin Wycoff. Gary was preceded in death by his wife Lin and his parents. A memorial service for Gary will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to American Red Cross or American Legion Post 362 in Coloma.
