Thomas N. McAllister, 74, of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, October 8, 2004 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph with Fr. Thomas Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Liturgical Prayers recited at 7:30 P.M. Mr. McAllister was born June 13, 1930 in Salem, Oregon to Fabian & Edith (Wilcox) McAllister. On May 16, 1953, he married the former Jackie Moore in St. Joseph. Tom served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was employed by Whirlpool St. Joseph Division for eight years, and by Prudential Insurance for several years before joining J.A. Jones of North Carolina, where he served as quality control manager for many nuclear power plants across the country from 1970 until 1995, including the Donald C. Cook Plant in Bridgman. Tom had a servant?s heart, he enjoyed helping others. He volunteered at Lakeland Hospital, tutored at Lake Michigan Catholic High School, was active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus #1120 in Benton Harbor. Tom was a member of the American Legion and was an avid fisherman. Mr. McAllister is survived by his wife Jackie; two daughters-Mary Meyers of St. Joseph; Maureen (David) Petersen of Glen Ellyn, IL; four grandchildren-Michael McAllister (Lisa) Meyers; Megan Ann (Morgan Monfort) Meyers; Ryan McAllister Petersen; Aidan Griffith Petersen; one great-granddaughter-Clara Ann Monfort; a brother-Donald (Patricia) McAllister of McHenry, IL; and many nieces & nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law-Michael Meyers; and a sister-Dorothy Zeko in 1969.
