Jeanette Cadwell, lovingly known as Grandma Jenny, 84, formerly of Brooksville, Florida, died on Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph, Mich. with her family by her side. There will be a Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M. on Sunday, September 26, 2004, held at the home of her daughter, Lynne Clayton, 1904 Sunset drive, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Hadassah, c/o Temple B? Nai Shalom in Benton Harbor. Those who wish to send the family a condolence message may do so online at www.starks-menchinger.com Jeanette was born on February 11, 1920, in Brooklyn, New York to Martin and Libby (Rauch) Jacobson. She grew up in New York until she was a young adult. Jeanette moved to Michigan from New York via Washington D.C. after marrying Leo Cadwell during WWII. She was a loving mother and homemaker for many years. She was involved in Hadassah, B’Nai Brith and was president of the Women’s Auxiliary. Jeanette retired from the City of Benton Harbor after 13 years of service in many different departments in 1986. She enjoyed the many cultural offerings in the Twin Cities area including: Krasl Art Center, Sarett Nature Center, Blossomland Gem and Mineral Society and was an active member of the Democratic party. Jeanette was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed painting, bridge and Florida during her retirement. After her companion of many years, Irving Plenner, died a month ago, she moved from Florida to be with her daughter Lynne and her family. She spent a few beautiful weeks with them watching her grandson, Nick, excel at guitar, saw her granddaughter, Caitlin, connect with her horse, and meeting friends and family. Her son Marty, daughter-in-law Kay, granddaughter Maya and grandson Joey were also with her. She got to hear her granddaughter Maya play the violin, which had also given her so much pleasure and pride. Jeanette is survived by a son Marty (Kay) Cadwell of Detroit; grandaughter Maya Cadwell, Chicago, grandson: Joey (Nicole) Cadwell, Detroit, great-grandson Joey Cadwell, Jr. and daughter Lynne (David) Clayton of St. Joseph; granddaughter-Caitlin Clayton, grandson- Nick Clayton. Arrangements are entrusted to Kerley-Starks & Menchinger, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.
