Max's Obituary

Max Morris, Jr., 87, of Stevensville, went to meet his Lord & Savior, Friday, July 22, 2004 at his home. A Funeral Service of Thanksgiving & Praise will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, at St. Matthew?s Lutheran Church, Colfax & Kline Avenues, Benton Harbor. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan, Michigan. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Monday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew?s Lutheran Church or Hospice at Home of Stevensville. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mr. Morris was born October 17, 1916 in Berrien Springs to Max & Esther (Painter) Morris. He served his country in the US Army during WWII. On June 22, 1963, he married the former Olga Hein in Benton Harbor. Max was employed at Clark Equipment in Benton Harbor for forty years. He was a member & former elder of St. Matthew?s Lutheran Church, and a member and past president of UAW Local 1290. Max loved to travel with his wife. The had visited many island paradises. He also enjoyed working around the house in the yard and landscape. Max is survived by his wife Olga; his son L. Pat (Jan) Morris of South Bend, IN; two daughters-Sherin (Daniel) Diehl of Hayden, Idaho; Rochelle (Marvin) Maberry of Reno, NV; step-daughter-Judy Ann (Gene) Ball of St. Joseph; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; two brothers-Jimmy (Dorothy) Morris & Jerry Morris, both of Buchanan; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Betty Morris; his parents-Max, Sr. & Esther Morris; and two brothers-Richard & Jack Morris.
