Bertha Kirby, 102 of St. Joseph, died at Lakeland Continuing Care ?St. Joseph on Monday August 23, 2004.Friends may call from 7:00 ? 9:00 PM Tuesday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home 2650 Niles Rd, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church St. Joseph, with Pastor Jon Bendrerwald officiating, burial to follow at North Shore Memorial Garden. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Volunteer Association of Lakeland Continuing Care. On October 6 1923 she married Floyd Kirby in St. Joseph. Her biggest enjoyment was being with her family She is survived by five daughters Helen (Richard) Cassidy of St. Joseph, Dorothy (Charles) Cross of Chesterton, IN; Maxine (Kenneth) Mock of St. Joseph, Shirley Scott of Grant , MI;Joyce (David) Stewart of Florida; 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild; a sister Edna Klinke of Florida, a brother Rynold Thiede, Michigan City , IN;Preceded in death by her husband Floyd on May 20, 1978, a son and daughter in-law William & Julia Kirby; son-in-law Ross Scott; two sisters Ella Reitz and Julia Kirby; and a brother Henry Thiede
