Edward H. Schroeder

Edward H. Schroeder, 82, of St. Joseph, MI passed away November 10, 2004 at Lakeland Hospital?St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 A.M, Saturday, November 13, 2004 at St. Peter?s Church in St. Joseph (of which he was a member) with Rev. Randy Doyle officiating. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma, MI. Visitation will be held Friday, November 12, 2004 from 6-8 P.M. at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, MI. Mr. Schroeder was born August 16, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York to Edward J. & Mary (Kitson) Schroeder. On January 22, 1950 he married Bertha Benjamin and they celebrated their 50th anniversary with festivities at the Krasl Art Center, St. Joseph. The family moved to St. Joseph in 1968. While in Brooklyn, Edward owned and operated a candy store of which he was very proud. Upon moving to this area, he worked as a Security Guard for Pinkerton?s, Wackenhut and Scope Services. Edward was a Veteran of WWII serving his country in the United States Air Force. He was a valiant survivor of a stroke and cancer. Edward is survived by his wife, Bertha; two daughters?Faith (Richard) Smith, Lafayette, IN and Linda Irk of Michigan City, IN; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Thoden and a niece, Marilyn Mawhinney.
