Gail June Kener

Gail Kener, 50, of St. Joseph, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2004, at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, July 1, 11:00 A.M., at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4333 Cleveland Ave., Stevensville, MI, with Rev. Phillip Quardokus officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery, Stevensville. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 30, from 5:00-8:00 P.M., at Kerley & Starks-Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of Stevensville, MI. Gail was born on March 9, 1954, in South Haven, MI, to Leon and Florence (Stuckum) Konkle. She was a graduate of Lawrence High School in 1972. Gail married John Kener in Hartford, MI, on September 19, 1975. She was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stevensville; where she also worked in the school lunchroom for app. 15 years, from 1988 to 2003, and served her specialty the ?Egg McKener.? Gail loved to bake for her family, and loved to spend time with them, and was especially fond of her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, John; two sons, John (Tanya) Kener of Niles, MI, and Eric Kener of Stevensville, MI; a daughter, Keri Kener of St. Joseph; five grandchildren, Casey, Tony, Nicholas, Ariel and Mackenzie; her parents, Leon and Florence Konkle of Lawrence, MI; a brother, Greg (Kim) Konkle of Dallas, TX; a sister, Gina (Ron) Corkle of Angola, IN; and her mother-in-law, Grace Kener of Phoenix, AZ. Gail is preceded in death by a brother, Gary Konkle.
