Ida's Obituary

Ida E. Banks, 86, of Benton Harbor, MI, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2004, at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 11:00 A.M., with Rev. James Biffert officiating, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery, Benton Harbor, MI. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 9, from 5:00-7:00 P.M., at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Assembly of God, St. Joseph, MI. Mrs. Banks was born April 19, 1918, in Benton Harbor, MI, to Emil and Julia (Hein) Bertien. She married Joseph W. Banks in October of 1939, in Benton Harbor, MI. She retired from Voice of Music, from the quality control department, after 20 years of service. Mrs. Banks was a member of AARP, and also of Retired for FUN (VM employees.) She is survived by a niece, Sharon (Donald) Lynch of Ft. Worth, TX; a nephew, William Bertien of St. Joseph, MI; several cousins; and her extended family who cared for her, Guy (Cheryl) Heaton and Gloria Reeves of Benton Harbor, MI. Preceding her in death are her parents-Emil and Julia, her husband-Joseph, a son Greg, and two brothers-William and Ludwig Bertien.
