Frances's Obituary
Frances M. Trask, 99, of St. Joseph, passed away on September 14, 2004 at Caretel Inns of Royalton in St. Joseph, Michigan.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, September 20, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church, 3003 Leco Ct., St. Joseph, with Rev. Wade Panse officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma. Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 P.M. at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund in St. Joseph or Hospice at Home in Stevensville. Frances was born in Harvey, Illinois on June 28, 1905 to Harold & Jennie (Carlysle) Welsh. She moved to St. Joseph as a young girl and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1924. On September 11, 1927 she was married to Howard Trask in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Frances was first a homemaker and in later years she worked for Rimes & Hildebrand Department Store and Ollie?s Dress Shop as a seamstress after which she retired in 1979.
Frances was a very loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She dearly loved her family, her pets, and her flower garden. She was an avid reader and an excellent cook. Frances was a member of First United Methodist Church for over 75 years. She was active in Sunday School and the Esther Circle.
She is survived by her daughter, Gladys Holmes, of St. Joseph; five grandchildren, Dr. Robert (Remy) Holmes, Bloomfield Hills, MI, Kendal (Monica) Holmes, Streamwood, IL, Michael Holmes of St. Joseph, MI, Laura (Rodger) Holtquist and Lisa Melin, Tulsa, OK; five great-grandchildren, Justin Holmes, Bloomfield Hills, MI, Robyn Holmes, Olympia, WA, Walter Holmes, Detroit, MI, Jillian & Alaina Holtquist, Tulsa, OK; nephew, Jerry Berner, Orlando, FL, niece, Sally Brown, Ballwin, MO; two great-nieces, Nathalia (David) Bauer, Ocoee, Fl, and Jennifer Berner, Loveland, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Howard on April 13, 1974; her son David on July 22, 2000, her sister Gladys Berner on March 15, 2004; and her niece Dorothy Berner on September 6, 2004.
