Dorothy H. O?Toole, 79, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2004 at home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph. Cremation will follow the service with burial of ashes at North Shore Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Liturgical Prayers recited at 7:30 P.M. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home. Mrs. O?Toole was born April 15, 1925 in Covington, Kentucky to John & Clara (Staverman) Hoelscher. On November 26, 1955 she married Eugene O?Toole in Covington. Dorothy retired as bookkeeper at Emlong?s Nursery in Stevensville in 1990. Prior to Emlong?s she had worked at Miller?s Market, Berrien Teachers Credit Union, Coca-Cola, all of St. Joseph; and Sears Roebuck of Benton Harbor. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph and the St. Joseph Elks #541. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, knitting crocheting, and gardening. Mrs. O?Toole is survived by her husband Eugene; her son Jack (Phyllis) O?Toole of St. Joseph; three daughters-Katie Kramer, MD and husband Rick of Peoria, IL, Maggie Aungst and husband Bruce of St. Joseph, and Louie Tremblay and husband Wayne of St. Joseph; four grandchildren-Caleb, Lexie, Cassie, and Logan. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two infant sisters.
