Velma's Obituary

Velma Hall, 87, of Benton Harbor passed away Tuesday April 20, 2004 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, at Kerley- Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Ave.,St. Joseph. Entombment will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma. Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph-Lincoln, North Berrien, or Benton Harbor Senior Citizens Center. Velma was born to Frank and Caroline (Waldenmaier) Arent on November 15, 1916 in Benton Harbor. She married Richard Clay Hall on October 9, 1940 in Iowa. Velma was employed as a bookkeeper at Michigan Gas Utilities, and Grace B. Pauley?s in St. Joseph. She was a volunteer & member of St. Joseph-Lincoln, North Berrien, and Benton Harbor Senior Citizens Centers; a volunteer at the Soup Kitchen, and an avid bingo player. Velma is survived by her brother Chester (Doris) Arent of Watervliet, her nephews and nieces, David Arent of Watervliet, Dorothy Thar of Benton Harbor, Edward (Geri) Klug of Baroda, Caroline (Robert) Widdis of Baroda, Larry Klug of Baroda, Michael (Cindy) Klug of St. Joseph, Pam (Dale) Evans of Berrien Springs, and Robert (Shirley) Hall of Hartford. She was preceded in death by her husband Clay on June 23, 1999, her parents, and her sister Clara Klug on February 9, 1982.
