Edward Broderick

Edward T. Broderick Sr., 84 died on Saturday, January 3, 2004 in Benton Harbor with his family at his side. Ed was born Sept. 2nd, 1919 to William and Mary (O?Brien) Broderick. He lived his entire life on the family Centennial farm in Hagar Township and was the 3rd generation to farm the land. Edward graduated from St. John?s High School, Class of 1937. He married the former Geraldine Heffron on December 1st, 1956 in Chicago IL. Edward is survived by his wife of 47 years, Gerry, as well as his six children; four sons, William , Ed Jr.(Danyl), John (Tonda), Michael (Lisa) Broderick, two daughters Mary (Ted) Weber and Susan (Michael) Herrmann. Edward was also blessed with 7 granddaughters, Kate and Liz Weber, Chelsea, Kelly, Megan and Amy Broderick, Julianna Herrmann and one grandson Edward T. Broderick III. Also surviving are two sisters, Margaret Cheevers and Mary (Dick) McClure. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Agnes Broderick and a grandson Ryan Broderick. Ed was very involved in serving his community. He served as Hagar Township Supervisor from 1957 ? 1984. He also served as a Berrien County Road Commissioner from 1986-1994. Ed was active in numerous civic and church organizations as well as a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1120 and St. Joseph Elks No. 541. Visitation will be at Starks and Menchinger funeral home. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, January 6th from 3:00 PM. A prayer service will held at 7:30pm. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30AM at St. John?s Catholic Church, 600 Columbus St., Benton Harbor with the Father Bill Jacobs. Memorials can be made to Lake Michigan Catholic Schools. Ed had a great love of his heritage, family and friends. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and outgoing personality.
