Ruby Lee Evans

Ruby’s life began on March 27, 1948 in Florence, Alabama the daughter of Aaron and Virginia (Sampson) Thrasher. She was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” L. Evans, Sr. on August 6, 1966 in Florence, Alabama. Ruby was a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church for many years. She was an avid Notre Dame sport’s fan, as she loved all their sports. Ruby has an extensive rock and flower garden. One of her favorite past times was to sit on her front porch and read. Ruby was very dedicated to her husband, Dick, as she had devoted the last 8 years of her life to taking care of him. Her loving family includes her husband, Dick Evans of Niles; children, Dawn (Steve) Welsh of South Bend, IN, Richard “Scooter” (Gleena Revis) Evans of Dowagiac; grandchildren, Steven, Kayla, Charity, Cassidy; great granddaughter, Raeghan and sister, Ellen (Tom) Rodewald of Elkhart, IN. Ruby passed away on November 2, 2012 at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. She was preceded in death by her parents. Her family will gather with friends on Tuesday from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Dowagiac, Michigan where her service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Casey Helmuth officiating.
