Patricia's Obituary
Patricia Hope Carpenter of St. Joseph passed away Tuesday,
March 23, 2004 at SemperCare Hospital in Kalamazoo,
Michigan, following a long illness. Pat was born October 22,
1930 in Evanston, Illinois to Edward and Naomi (Munson)
Carpenter. Following graduation from Dowagiac High
School, Pat attended Michigan State University where she
received a B.A. degree. She worked for several radio stations
in Southwestern Michigan and the American Society of
Women in Radio and Television before joining the news
analysis department of NBC where she worked for 25 years.
She then retired to St. Joseph in 1989. Pat volunteered for
Birthright, participated in an AAUW book group, and spent
many hours riding her horse.
She is survived by one brother, Jack (Pat) Carpenter of
Stevensville; one nephew, Peter (Laura) Carpenter, of Park
Ridge, Illinois; two nieces, Anne (Tony Ventimiglia)
Carpenter of Fountain Hills, Arizona, and Melissa (Steve)
Miller of Stevensville; six grand nieces and nephews; a cat,
Tweenie, and a horse, Baby Boy of South Haven. She was
preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be held at
Starks-Menchinger Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on
Friday, March 26, 2004. A prayer service will be held at 5:30
p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic
Church on Saturday, March 27, 2004 at 10 a.m. Burial will
take place at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac, Michigan.
