Yvonne's Obituary
Yvonne’s life began on August 22, 1946 in Dowagiac, the daughter of James and Bernice (Gordon) Garsee. She had been employed by Kentucky Fried Chicken, Heddon Bait Company and worked for several farms in Texas. Yvonne enjoyed fishing, and never missed watching her daily soap operas. She was devoted to her family and loved each one deeply. Her loving family includes her children Laurie J. (Alvin) Hammond of Cassopolis, Robert (Kathy) Garsee of Decatur, Rick Johnson of Decatur, and Beverly (Steve) Linton of Conroe, TX, 11 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, sister Diane (Jack) Lewandowski of Dowagiac, John (Connie) Checkley of Dowagiac, Don (Cindy) Checkley of Dowagiac, Tom Checkley of Niles, and Nancy Rumner of Dowagiac and several nieces and nephews. Yvonne passed away on Thursday October 25, 2012 at Borgess Pipp Hospital in Plainwell. She is preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel led by Pastor Stacey Wilder of the Calvary Bible Church.
