Helen Marie Corliss
Early in the morning of February 9, 2004, with her family by her side, the gates of heaven opened and Helen Marie Corliss, 79, of Benton Harbor, was ?promoted to glory? and heard the words of her Lord, ?well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter into your just reward?.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00A.M. Thursday, February 12, 2004, with Major Jack Holoway officiating, at The Salvation Army, 232 Michigan, Benton Harbor. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Friends may call on the family from 5-8P.M. Wednesday, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Helen was born February 14, 1924 in Benton Harbor, to Francis Olin Boyer and Laura (Curry) Boyer, the oldest of seven children. She married Bert Corliss, Jr., February 20, 1942. Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved painting, gardening, crafts and being with her family. She was a dedicated member of the Salvation Army where she attended church and volunteered in many ways.
She will be greatly missed by her husband Bert Corliss of Benton Harbor; son Bert (Cathy) Corliss of Bridgman, daughter Sandie (Don) Platt of Chesaning, son David (Mary) Corliss of Grand Ledge; son Charles (Sue) Corliss of Bridgman; brothers ? Bob Boyer and Howard (Winnie) Boyer of Arkansas, Carl (Betty) Boyer of Benton Harbor, Don (Alice) Boyer of Coloma; step sister ? Betty Anderson of Grand Rapids; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, stepmother Amelia Boyer, brother Charles Boyer, sister Nadine Foster, and sister in law Jeannie Boyer.
