Deborah K. Brooks

Deborah Brooks, 53, of Buchanan died Saturday, November 22, 2003, at the University of Chicago Hospital, Chicago, Illinois. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, at St. Peter?s United Church of Christ, 623 Church Street, St. Joseph. Friends may call from 5:00 ? 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Peter?s United Church of Christ or the Leukemia Foundation. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Deborah was born July 14, 1950 in St. Joseph to Arlee and Sophie (Kempf) Dansfield. Deborah married John Brooks May 1, 1971 at St. Peter?s Church, in St. Joseph. She was a fifth grade ?room mother? at Sylvester Elementary School in Berrien Springs, and attended St. Peter?s United Church of Christ. Deborah loved shopping, gardening, and vacationing with her family. She started work as a Registered Nurse at Memorial Hospital in 1970. She then worked at Mercy, then Lakeland Hospital in the Emergency Department until her death. She was admired, respected and dearly loved by her co-workers and patients. She will be sorely missed but will remain in our thoughts and hearts forever. Deborah is survived by her husband John; her daughters ? Alexandra and Adrianna Brooks; a brother ? Dale Dansfield of Riverside, Mich.; and a sister ? Tamara (Gene) Milliken of Riverside. Her parents ? Arlee and Sophie Dansfield, precede her in death.
