Michael's Obituary

Michael ?Perchy? Phillis, of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 7, 2004. Cremation has taken place. Visitation and funeral services were held Monday, May 10, with Michael?s nephew, Pastor Allan Mazelin, officiating at the Paul R. Young Funeral Home, Cincinnati, Ohio. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:00p.m., Monday, May 17, 2004, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Remembrances may be sent in c/o Michael Phillis? children?s education fund at First Financial Bank, Colerain Township. Those wishing to sign the guestbook or share a memory online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com He was a devoted husband and loving father, an avid marathon runner and lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. ?Perchy? graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1977, and received his Bachelor?s degree in Business and Human Resources from the University of Cincinnati in October of 2003. He will sadly be missed by his wife Ivy (Hapach) Phillis of Cincinnati; his loving daughters ? Francesca, Gianna both of Cincinnati, and Heather Phillis of Stevensville. He was the grandson of Cornelia Wright of Berrien Center; brother of Gail (Bob) Horton of Coloma, JoAnn (Terry) Hoover of Berrien Center; nephew of Gina (Doug) Banhagel of Houston, Texas; uncle of four nephews, three nieces, two great nephews and two great-nieces and cousin to several cousins; and the son of the late Frank and Norma Jean (Clary) Phillis, who precedes him in death.
