Dessie M. Pfost

Dessie M. (Draper) Pfost, 98, of St. Joseph and formerly of Three Rivers, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2003 at Caretel Inns of Royalton, in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, 3003 Leco Ct., St. Joseph with Rev. Wayne Babcock officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 P.M. Monday at Moorepark Cemetery in Three Rivers with Rev. Paula VanderHoven officiating. Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, St. Joseph is in charge of arrangements. Mrs Pfost was born January 20, 1905 in Algansee Township to Loren & Mary (Hungerford) Draper. On August 3, 1924, she married Lowell Bennett Pfost in Algansee Township. Together they operated a livestock & grain farm in Three Rivers for many years. Dessie & Lowell enjoyed 76 years of marriage before his passing on October 2, 2000. Dessie was a life member of the O.E.S.-Schoolcraft Chapter; a member of the Schoolcraft Presbyterian Church and the DAR-Algonquin Chapter; a former member of Moorepark Grange, Pomona Grange, Michigan State Grange, and the Moorepark Extension Club. Dessie is survived by her daughter-Virginia Stuck of Benton Harbor; her son-Robert (Dorothy) Pfost of Three Rivers; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law-Wayne & Joyce Pfost, her son-in-law-Donald Stuck; three brothers-Harold, Donald, & Kenneth Draper, and two sisters-Hope Eisenhauer & Dorothy Winn.
