Louise's Obituary
Louise F. Schmidt, 90, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away, Monday, April 12, 2004 at Village of East Harbor Health Care in Chesterfield, Michigan.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 9:30 A.M. Saturday at The First Assembly of God, 3084 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. James Biffert officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Friday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to First Assembly of God or Presbyterian Village East, Chesterfield, Michigan.
Mrs. Schmidt was born August 10, 1913 in Evansville, Indiana to Charles & Freda (Leetge) Diamond. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1932. On August 5, 1931 she married Oscar C. Schmidt in St. Joseph. Louise worked at Industrial Rubber during WWII. Louise was a long time member of The First Assembly of God where she taught Sunday School and was active in local mission work. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time with her family. Louise lived most of her life in St. Joseph before moving to Presbyterian Village East in 1991 where she enjoyed bible study, crafts, and volunteering in the gift shop.
Mrs. Schmidt is survived by her daughter-Judy (Bazil) Hunt of Troy, Michigan; two sons-Richard (Susan) Schmidt of Overland Park, Kansas, Don (Donna) Schmidt of Peninsula, Ohio; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters-Dorothy King of Clearwater, Florida, and Virginia (Earl) Grentz of St. Joseph. She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar on December 1, 1994, two sisters-Thelma Stowell & Helen Clapp, and a brother-Harold Diamond.
