Gerhart H. Peppel, 84, of St. Joseph died Sunday August 10, 2003 at Caretel Inns of Royalton. Friends may call from 6:00 ? 9:00 PM Tuesday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday at St. Matthew?s Lutheran Church of Benton Harbor; with burial following at Riverview Cemetery. Gerhart was born July 21, 1919 to Adolph & Martha (Frank) Peppel in St. Joseph, MI. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1937 and served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He married Frances Hinkley on August 10, 1947 in Kalamazoo, Mi. He worked for 25 years for Consumer Coal and Oil Company then for Aid Association for Lutherans until he retired in 1984. He was a life member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church. One of his favorite past times was fishing. He is survived by his wife Frances of St. Joseph, three sons, Thomas (Carol) Peppel of Cedarburg, WI; Roger Peppel, Waverly IA; Dean (Becki) Peppel of Stevensville ; one daughter Mary ( Ed) Mohr of Findlay, OH; five grandchildren Thomas & Molly Peppel; Mitchell Mohr, Adam & Aaron Peppel; one brother Richard ( Elaine) Peppel of Brookfield Wis.; also survived by several Nieces and Nephews Preceded in death by his parents and a sister Lena Mantei in 1973
