James L. Barwick, 70, of Baroda, died at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Tuesday, September 2, 2003. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7pm Friday, September 5, 2003, at the Fairplain Presbyterian Church, 210 Napier Avenue, Benton Harbor, with Rev. John Munson officiating. Memorials may be made to the church. Those wishing to send a condolence message or share a memory online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Mr. Barwick was born May 2, 1933 in West Frankfort, Ill., to James and Lou Ellen (Perrine) Barwick. He served in the US army during the Korean War. James worked as a handyman; a painter for the County of Berrien; and owned and operated his own business ? First Choice Carpet Cleaning. He was a member of the National Rifleman?s Association, the Baroda American Legion, and the Coloma Rod & Gun Club. On November 10, 1989 he married Beverly L. Burns in Benton Harbor. Survivors include four daughters ? Erica Mielke, of Baroda, Jennifer Mielke, of Baroda, Deborah (Bill) Windsor, of Murray, Kentucky, Christine (Carl) Rose, of Sawyer; Six grandchildren ? Michael, Thomas, Jonathan, Andrew, Kimberlee, and Laura; two sisters ? Millie Decker of Normal, IL, Doris (Johnny) Wade of Marion, IL; and a brother Charles (Susan) Barwick of Carbondale, IL. His parents precede him in death.
