Virginia's Obituary

Virginia A. (Metalski) Hudak, 74, of Benton Harbor, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2003, at Lakeland Continuing Care Center, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Twelve Corners Community Church or the Berrien County Youth Fair Equine Department. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Virginia was born June 7, 1929 to Max & Eugenia (Bakaluk) Lawrick. She was raised by her mother and her adoptive father Michael Metalski. Virginia graduated from Benton Harbor High School in the class of 1947. She was employed by V-M Corp. from 1947-1983; and by Modern Plastics from 1983 until her retirement in 2002. Virginia was a member of the Twelve Corners Community Church; a 4-H leader & a Berrien County Youth Fair volunteer the last 35 years. She loved working in her flower garden and loved animals-especially dogs & horses. Mrs. Hudak is survived by two daughters-Janice (Tom) Walton of Three Oaks, Tami (Tom) Gear of Benton Harbor; six grandchildren-Kurtis & Kim Gear, Jerry, Jay, Joe, & Jim Kehrer; two brothers-Henry (Marilee) Metalski of Sister Lakes, William Metalski of Benton Harbor; a nephew-Mike Metalski and a niece-Mindy Avans. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and by two infant brothers-Walter Lawrick in 1924 and Merle Lawrick in 1925.
