Richard L. Sandel

Richard L. Sandel, 69, of Stevensville, passed away after a long battle with cancer, Friday, July 11, at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 10:00AM, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph. Visitation will be on Monday, from 4:00-8:00PM, with a prayer service at 6:30PM, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Lake Michigan Catholic School Building Fund or to the Berrien County Cancer Service. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Korea. On February 20, 1960, he married Camille Gioia. Mr. Sandel was a Business Manager with Gast Manufacturing from 1965-1992. He was a devoted member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, and volunteered for the Mendel Center, Twin City Players, Twin City Symphony, and Lakeland Hospital. Mr. Sandel was a gentle and loving husband to his wife, Camille; a devoted father to 4 sons, David (Edwina) of Stevenson Ranch, CA, Michael (Tameche) of Charlotte, NC, Donald (Georgiann) of Arlington Heights, IL, and Daniel of Lawrenceville, GA; and daughter, Karen (Alex) Onedo of Gurnee, IL; a wonderful grandfather to 9 bear hugged grandchildren; a brother to, Thomas (Sharon) Sandel of St. Joseph, and son-in-law of John and Catherine Festa of Stevensville.
