Lucille Rodgers

Lucille Rodgers, 86, of St. Joseph, passed away in her sleep into the loving hands of our Lord, Monday, February 16, 2004 at Dowagiac Nursing Home in Dowagiac. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at l:00 P.M. Thursday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Dowagiac Nursing Home. She moved with her family at an early age from Chicago to a farm in Benton Harbor. In 1950, Lucille married Sam Rodgers in South Bend, Indiana. Lucille?s family was very important to her, she especially loved caring for her grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Mrs. Rodgers is survived by her son Michael (Ursula) Rodgers of St. Joseph; her daughter-Mary Ann (Robert) Hines of Benton Harbor; seven grandchildren-Michelle Rodgers, Eric Rodgers, Cynthia (Brian) Bennett, Laurie (Robert) Dietz, Kelly Stroup, Jeffrey (Amy) Hines, Robert (Sue DePelecyn) Hines, Jr.; six great-grandchildren-Jessica & Michael Smith, Jonathan (Roxanne) Gothberg, Matthew (Heather) Gothberg, Gregory Gothberg, Collin Stroup; two great-great-grandchildren-Emily & Logan Gothberg; and her brother-Frank (Ann) Graziano of Benton Harbor. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sam on September 28, 1990, and two brothers-Manuel & Dominick Graziano. In a special remembrance, Lucille & her friend Raymond of Dowagiac Nursing Home were crowned King & Queen of the Forget Me Not Unit at the Dowagiac Nursing Home in a Valentines Day Celebration on February 13, 2004.
