Willis's Obituary

Willis E. Hall, 80, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at Lakeland Specialty Hospital, Berrien Center. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:30 P.M. Friday at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 2001 Niles Ave., St. Joseph, with Dr. Robert Braman officiating. Family Graveside Services with Military Rites will be held Friday morning at Lee Township Cemetery in Pullman. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Thursday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to the First Congregational UCC or the Krasl Art Center. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mr. Hall was born July 28, 1922 in Zeeland, Michigan to Edgar & Jennie (Heyboer) Hall. He graduated from Zeeland High School in 1940 and attended Hope College and North Carolina State. Willis served his country in the US Army during WWII. On December 17, 1955, he married the former Barbara Bensinger in Holland. Mr. Hall was involved in owning and leasing trucks most of his life, most recently as a co-owner & operator of B.A. Peters Truck Leasing of Benton Harbor before his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the First Congregational UCC where he served on the Board of Missions and the Board of Trustees; and the Krasl Art Center. Willis is survived by his wife Barbara; his son Jeffrey (Cynthia) Hall of Chanhassen, Minnesota; his daughter Mary Hall of Cheboygan, MI; two grandsons-Alex Hall & Bart Hall; two sisters-Mary Jane VanderWeide of Zeeland, MI; Dorothy Riggs of Paoli, PA; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Leslie Hall and a sister Leona Hall
