Gladys's Obituary

Gladys Simmons, 75, of Stevensville, went to meet her Lord & Savior on Tuesday, August 26, 2003, at Jordan?s Nursing Home in Bridgman. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ, 3001 Veronica Dr., St. Joseph. Cremation will follow the services. Friends may call beginning at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the church. Mrs. Simmons was born October 23, 1927 in Stevensville to Nelson & Pauline (Santrucek) Ott. She graduated from St. Joseph High School. She formerly owned and operated the Red Coach in Stevensville. She retired as a jury clerk from Berrien County Fifth-District Court. Gladys was a member of Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School. She was a former member of Stevensville Fireman?s Auxiliary, Lakeshore Lianas Club; she was a former girl scout leader, and served for over 20 years on the Stevensville Queen?s Committee. Gladys is survived by her daughter-Rhonda (Thom) Rabbers of St. Joseph, her son-James (Jean) Simmons, Jr.; five grandchildren-Sarah Rabbers, Garrett Rabbers, Jayson Simmons, Jeff Simmons, Dawn Franks; and one brother-Art Kohlert. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers-John & Jerry Kohlert.
