Earlie Mae Walker

Earlie’s life began on August 28, 1934 in Lanette, AL, the daughter of Bill and Rosa Lee (Dardon) Jennings. She was united in marriage to LeRoy Walker, Sr. in 1964 in Dowagiac. Earlie loved caring for others and she was a faithful member of Mount Zion church in Dowagiac. She was an excellent cook, known for her rice pudding and enjoyed cooking for her family. Her loving family includes her husband LeRoy Walker, Sr of Dowagiac, her children Bill Brooks of Dowagiac, Annette (James) Peoples of Elkhart, Carrie (Andrew Miller) Brooks of Benton Harbor, Gloria ( Harvey) Brooks-Vaughn of Oak Park, MI, James (Bobbie Baham) Brooks of Griffin, GA, Karen (Ray Boyd) Brooks of Benton Harbor, Michael “Tony” (Denise Perkins) Brooks of Niles, LeRoy (Amanda Kelley) Walker, Jr of College Park, GA, Kattiria “Kitty” Walker of Virginia, Sheila (Donald)Adams of San Antonio, TX, 19 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren, a host of God sons and God daughters, sisters Fannie Mae Pearl Jennings of West Point, GA, Vonice Billingslea, Linda Zachary, and Johnny Ruth Thomas of Lanette,AL and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Earlie passed away on September 11, 2012 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She is preceded in death by two sons Walter Jennings and Monroe Walker and a daughter Beverly Ann Jennings. Her family will gather with friends on Saturday from 3-4 p.m. at the Dowagiac First United Methodist Church where her funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. led by Pastor Kevin Mitchell.
