William's Obituary

William O. Eisenhart, 78, of St. Joseph, passed away at Lakeland Hospital, on Saturday, May 10, 2003. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, May 13, at 10:00AM, at the Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ, St. Joseph, with Rev. Dr. Kent Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Run Cemetery, Scottdale. Friends may call on Monday, May 12, from 2:00-4:00PM and from 6:00-8:00PM, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial contributions may be made to the Royalton Township Fire Department. Those wishing to leave a message of condolence, or to sign the family guest book, may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Mr. Eisenhart was born on March 18, 1925, in St. Joseph, to Otto and Edith (Bodtke) Eisenhart. He married Betty Ann Koebel on July 5, 1947 in St. Joseph. William was a retired fruit and vegetable farmer. He owned and operated the family farm in Scottdale, which was recognized by the Michigan Historical Society as a Centennial Farm ? having been in the same family for over 100 years. Mr. Eisenhart was also a 20 year member of the Tri-Unit Fire Department, now known as the Royalton Township Fire Department. He was an avid outdoorsman; he especially loved to hunt, fish, camp, and travel. He is survived by two daughters, Penny (Jon) Vollman of Three Oaks, and Cindy Knight of St. Joseph; a son William Eisenhart, Jr. of St. Joseph; five grandchildren, Amy Smith, Annette (Scott) Mangold, Michael (Lindsay) Eisenhart, Mindy Eisenhart, and Jennifer Knight; three step-grandchildren, Lisa (Mike) Swartz, Amy (James) Hemphill and David Vollman; and a sister, LaVerne (Robert) Schultz of Las Vegas. His wife Betty preceded him in death in February 1991, also preceding William are his parents.
