Bonita's Obituary
Bonnie’s life began on August 16, 1925 in Mishawaka, IN the daughter of Oscar and Blanche (Dudley) Sampson. She was united in marriage to George Valdes on January 1, 1942 in Paw Paw, MI. Bonnie was a faithful member of First Christian Church in Dowagiac since 1948. She worked for Dr. Neff for 12 years, was the treasurer for AARP #444, volunteered during elections at the polls and a member of the Rebekah Lodge. Her loving family includes her children John (Phyllis) Valdes of Dowagiac, Phillip Valdes of Rancho Cordova, CA, Jean Valdes of Dowagiac and Martha (Ted) Wallace of Dowagiac, grandchildren Kevin (Kathy) Valdes, Amy (Matthew) Schmidt, Sandy (Nick Byrne) Garland, Jenny (Tyson Stewart) Garland, Kelly (Jake Egeler) Garland, great grandchildren Ethan, Taylor and Kayla Valdes, Logan and Addison Schmidt, Carlos and Colin Rivera and Violet Stewart, brothers Lester (Mary) Sampson of Granger, IN and Charles (Dora) Sampson of Cassopolis. Bonnie passed away on Thursday August 30, 2012 at Timbers of Cass County. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband George in 2002 and a grandson Michael Valdes. Her family will gather with friends on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel. Celebration of Life Services will be celebrated on Monday at 11 a.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel officiated by Pastor Jon DenHouter. She will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed First Christian Church.
