Mabel's Obituary

Mabel Kramp, 94, of St. Joseph, a dear lady, went thru life with grace and a smiling face went to meet her Lord and her husband on May 29, 2003, at Jordan?s Nursing Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 9:30am, Saturday, May 31, 2003, at Peace Lutheran Church, 3590 Lincoln Avenue, with Pastor Koehneke officiating. Burial will be in Lincoln Township cemetery. Friends may call on the family from 5:30-7:30 PM, Friday, May 30, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to Peace Lutheran Church building fund. Friends wishing to share a memory or sign the family Guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Mabel was born on October 24, 1908 in Benton Harbor, but lived most of her life in St. Joseph, MI. While in St. Joseph, she was employed in 1930 by Michigan Bell Telephone, Co., until they closed their office. She also was employed by Rimes & Hildebrand, M?Lady Shoppe, and Grace B. Pauley where she enjoyed waiting on the public. Mabel was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, St. Joseph. Mabel met her beloved husband Ted, and was married to him on Friday, June 13, 1929. They shared a wonderful life together for 67 years, until Ted preceded her in death in 1997. Mabel will be greatly missed by her daughter Jean Witt; one granddaughter and her husband Linda & Mark Mawhinney; three great grandchildren ? Amy (Jim) Wells of North Carolina; Jim Mawhinney serving the U.S. Navy, in Norfolk, VA and Kelly Mawhinney, attending Western Michigan University; one great great-granddaughter ? Hailey Mawhinney of St. Joseph. Mabel was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters ? Selesta and Vesta Johnson, and a brother Art Fort.
