William's Obituary
William C. Reed, 84, of Stevensville, died Tuesday, February
11, 2003, at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph. A Celebration of
Life Service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2003, at
1:30 PM, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home,
2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Christopher Noffke
officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St.
Joseph. Friends may call on Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 6:00 ?
9:00 PM, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be
made to Zion United Church of Christ, Baroda, MI. Those

Mr. Reed was born on April 24, 1918 in Manila, Arkansas, to
John and Jennie (Anshule) Reed. On November 23, 1948 in
Benton Harbor, MI, he was married to JoAnn Foster, she
preceded him in death on Oct. 9, 2002. He was a machinist
for Sta Rite Industries of Benton Harbor for 23 years, retiring
in 1980. Following his retirement, he purchased used bicycles
and repaired them for neighborhood children ? ?Reed?s Used
Bikes.? Mr. Reed was also a retired volunteer fireman for the
Benton Township Fire Department, Station #3.
He is survived by a son, Ron (Sherry) Reed of Stevensville; a
sister, Winnie Stevens of St. Joseph; 4 grandchildren and 4
great grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents,
his wife JoAnn, and a sister Lorraine Forbes.
