Evelyn L. Hatcher

Evelyn Lawrence Hatcher, age 81, of Harbor Springs, MI passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at the home of her daughter, Laurie Lardner, in St. Joseph. Evie was born on August 5, 1921 on Harbor Point, MI to John and Sarah (Hickox) Lawrence and was raised in Barrington, IL by her mother and stepfather Samuel Rowe. On August 21, 1954 she married the late Clinton B. Hatcher in Barrington. Evie attended the Art Institute of Chicago and studied art in Europe. Throughout her life, she pursued her interest in art through painting and was an avid tennis player. Evie was also an active and involved member of the Little Traverse Bay Humane Society. Evie was the loving mother of the late Rob (Karen) Hatcher, Sally (Bruce) Teal, Laurie (Michael) Lardner, Sandra (Alfredo) Velasquez, Carolyn (Jack) Corrigan, Dee (Ron) Biedermann, and Beth (Irvin) Cook; she was also the very proud grandmother of 20 grandchildren, including Sarah, Michael and Kate Lardner of St. Joseph and was the very proud great-grandmother of 6 great-grandchildren and the beloved sister of Katherine Lawrence of Blatchford, the late Muriel Lawrence de Macedo-Soares, and the late David Rowe. Visitation is Tuesday from 7pm to 9pm at St. Michael?s Episcopal Church, 647 Dundee Ave, Barrington, IL, 60010. Funeral services are Wednesday, 11:00 am, at St. Michael?s. Interment is at Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Little Traverse Bay Humane Society (1300 West Conway Road, Petoskey, MI 49770); Hospice at Home (2626 W. John Beers Road, PO Box 297, Stevensville, MI 49127); or St. John?s Episcopal Church (278 West Third Street, Harbor Springs, MI 49740).
