Paul Arthur ?Art? Dahlke, 85, of St. Joseph, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2003. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, May 5, 2003, 11:00 AM, at the Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor James Whitman officiating. Friends may call on Sunday, May 4, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation. For those wishing to leave a message of condolence, or to sign the family guestbook, you may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Mr. Dahlke was born March 19, 1918 in Watervliet, MI, to Theodore and Otille (Oskar) Dahlke. He lived in the Dowagiac area for the most part of his life. Art was a veteran of the United States Army. He married Helen Peppel on October 13, 1940, she preceded him in death on August 16, 2001. Mr. Dahlke loved to fish, hunt, and trap. For the most part of his life he attended local Assembly of God Churches, but for the last year he attended the Berrien County Bible Baptist Church with his daughter Carol, who had moved back home to take care of him. He is survived by a daughter, Carol Summers of Tucson, Arizona; two sons, James (Debra) Dahlke of St. Joseph, and Ronald (Donna) Dahlke of Sodus; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth of Kalamazoo, Margaret Bell of Marcellus, and Gertie (Bob) of Florida. Art is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and several brothers and sisters.
