Lynn's Obituary

Lynn J. Knapp, 74, of Stevensville, died Saturday, May 03, 2003 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Dan Miller of the First Assembly of God officiating. Cremation will follow the service with burial of ashes at North Shore Memory Gardens in Hagar Shores. Friends may call beginning at noon on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Knapp was born on February 11, 1929 in Bangor to Roland & Alice (Schultz) Knapp. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1941. On April 10, 1948 he married the former Elizabeth Thierbach in Baroda. Lynn served his country during the Korean War in the US Army. He was awarded three bronze stars and the Purple Heart. Lynn retired from Whirlpool in St. Joseph in 1989 after 41 years of employment. Lynn is survived by his wife Elizabeth; his son-Steven (Karen) Knapp of Port St. Lucie, FL; his daughter-Rhonda (Preston) Stahl of Bridgman; four grandchildren-Rebecca (Diego) Velasquez, Jason (Christy) Knapp, Jennifer Knapp, Michele Knapp; two great-grandchildren-Ryan & Evan Velasquez; two brothers-George (Catherine) Knapp of St. Joseph, Lloyd Knapp of Tempe, AZ; his sister-Mary Knapp of Benton Harbor; and a sister in law-JoAnne Knapp of Stevensville. Lyn was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-John Knapp, and a sister in law-Joyce Knapp.
