Merl ?Curly? Deckert, 76, died Saturday January 11, 2003, at
Orchard Grove Extended Care Centre in Benton Harbor, MI.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 ? 8:00 PM Tuesday at Starks
& Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St.
Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00
AM Wednesday at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church,
4071 Naomi Road, Sodus MI; with Rev. Richard Wilson
Officiating. Burial to follow at North Shore Memory
Gardens, Memorials may be made to Chapel Hill United
Methodist Church. Friends wishing to send condolence

He was born on December 1, 1926 to Louis and Elvina
(Kotkie) Dechert in Saline, MI. He served his country in the
United States Army during WWII. On April 19,1974 he
married Betty Seaman in Benton Harbor, who preceded him
in death on June 16, 2002
He is survived by a son James Deckert of Melbourne Fl.; A
grandson Kevin Deckert, Three brothers Elmer (Pauline)
Deckert of Hartford, Earl (Grace) Dechert of Stevensville,
Jerry (Ann) Dechert of St. Joseph.
