Louis's Obituary

Louis Tug Felgner, 77, went to be with his Lord on April 4, 2003, at his home in St. Joseph. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at St. Peter’s Church, 623 Church St., St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, officiated by the Rev. Randy Doyle, with the burial following in Riverview Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the church where he was a member. Friends wishing to send a condolence message may do so at the family guest book at www.starks-menchinger.com Lou was born on Oct. 10, 1925, in St. Joseph, to Louis and Amanda (Butgreit) Felgner Sr. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in 1944. He married Marlys Hafer on Nov. 8, 1947, in St. Joseph. His great love for the lake made him an avid fisherman. He retired from New Products Corp. after 45 years of employment, and he and Marlys spent many retirement years in Florida. He also was an enthusiastic participant in the St. Joseph Little League, where he coached for many years. He is survived by his wife, Marlys; his daughter, Pam (Peter) Lucas of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and his son, Brian (Denise) Felgner of Atlanta, Ga.; and two wonderful grandchildren — Jason Lucas and Haley Felgner. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Subka; and two brothers — Lyle and Neil.
