Henry Patzer

Henry Patzer, 80, of Stevensville, MI, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2003, at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 10:00AM, at St. Paul?s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2673 W. John Beers, Stevensville, with Rev. Gerald Schroer officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery, Stevensville. Visitation will be on Friday, October 24, 2003, from 4:00-8:00PM, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul?s Lutheran Church or to the Michigan Lutheran High School Basketball Program. Friends wishing to leave a message of condolence or to sign the family guestbook, may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Mr. Patzer was born on January 30, 1923, in St. Joseph, MI, to Emil and Natalie (Wenglarski) Patzer. He graduated from Trinity Lutheran High School in 1940, and served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps. On June 22, 1944, in Astoria, Long Island, NY, he married Ruth Louise Littmann. Mr. Patzer was an accountant, having worked as assistant treasurer in the Berrien County Treasurer?s Office, retiring in 1985 after 10 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul?s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Stevensville, and a member of the American Legion Post of Stevensville. He is survived by his wife Ruth; three sons, Steven (Pamela) Patzer of Berrien Springs, Eric (Janet Briggs) Patzer of Portola Valley, CA, and Mark Patzer of Stevensville; six grandchildren, Brett, Drew, Heather, Scott, Kimberlee and Matthew; two great grandchildren, Ethan and Hailee; two brothers, Wally Patzer of St. Joseph and Elmer (Alice) Patzer of Cranberry, PA; two sisters, Lydia Schneider of Mishawaka, IN and Marge Welsher of St. Joseph. Preceding him are his parents, two brothers-Rich and Oscar, and a sister-Elsie Wentland.
