Alvin A. ?Al? Wolske, 76, of Benton Harbor, passed away Sunday, December 08, 2002 at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at St. Peter?s United Church of Christ, 623 Church St., St. Joseph with Rev. Randy Doyle officiating. Burial will follow at Millburg Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by Coloma American Legion Post 362, Hartford American Legion Post 93, VFW Post 1137 of Benton Harbor, & VFW Post 6803 of Watervliet. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6-8 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to St. Peter?s United Church of Christ, or VFW Post 1137. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Al was born on September 8, 1926 in St. Joseph to Otto & Mary (Kublick) Wolske. Al served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was stationed overseas with the First Infantry Division, and while in Augburg, Germany he met the former Hildegard Podzuweit. They were married on October 20, 1951 in St. Peter?s U.C.C. in St. Joseph. Al retired in 1988 after 24 years with the Berrien County Road Commission. He was a member of St. Peter?s; American Legion Post 362; and a life member of VFW Post 1137. Mr. Wolske is survived by his wife Hildegard; his daughter-Susan (Michael) Jewell of Benton Harbor; three brothers-Arthur (Elsie) Wolske; Eric (Helga) Wolske; Orland (Ilda) Wolske; all of Benton Harbor; one sister-Anita (Jerry) Ellis of Benton Harbor; a sister-in-law-Ella Schulke of St. Joseph; and ten nieces & nephews.
