Dorothy's Obituary
Dorothy Jane (Fisher) Ellsworth, 88, of St. Joseph, succumbed to breast cancer on Monday, October 6, 2003. Family will receive friends from 4-8pm, Friday, October 10, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10am Saturday, with Rev. F. Russell Baker and Rev. David Cobin, Sr. officiating, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice at Home. Dorothy Jane was born in South Haven, Mich., on October 6, 1915 to Roy and Elizabeth (VanZee) Fisher. Her mother and father moved with Dorothy to Benton Harbor in 1918. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1934 and married Ed on June 17, 1940. Ed and Dorothy Jane moved to the “Big Brown House” on Lincoln Ave. in St. Joseph in 1948. There they raised their family and she resided until her death. Dorothy was a member of Benton Harbor Congregational Church for 75 years. Dorothy will be missed by her family and friends, but as she cared for her gardens while here she is now tending the gardens of the Lord.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 63 years, Edwin O. Ellsworth; her children ? Ronald O. (Nell) Ellsworth of Baroda, Kay (Charles) Conway of Lakeland, Fla., Jane Ann (Gordon) Sironen of Grand Rapids; 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several step grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
